Walibi Belgium Guide

Our Walibi Belgium Guide will help you plan your visit to the park.

Walibi Belgium is the largest, most popular theme park in Belgium. Between 1998 and 2004 the park was owned by Six Flags. These days the park is operated by CDA Parks.

In 2017 the park was given a 100 million euro make over and since then the park has continued to improve and add some impressive attractions such as Tiki Waka and Pocorn Revenge.

Location

Walibi Belgium is located in Wavre. Wavre is 30 minutes from Brussels, the largest city in Belgium. There is a train station located opposite the park called Bierges-Walibi. The train from Brussels to Walibi takes 47 minutes and runs roughly 40 times a day. For international guests, Brussels is the easiest airport to fly into. If you are relying on public transport, it is best to stop in Brussels and use the train to get too and from the park on the day of your visit.

Attractions at Walibi Belgium

This park has a good selection of rollercoasters. The park has a very good, large wooden coaster (Loup-Garou). The park also has a variety of steel coasters. Brand new for 2021, Kondaa is the largest coaster at the park. Standing at a height of 164ft (50m), this steel Intamin mega coaster features the world’s first non-inverting cobra roll, reaches a top speed of 70.2 mph (113 km/h) and contains an impressive 15 airtime moments. Furthermore, Tiki-Waka, a Gerstlauer bobsled coaster, is a superb family coaster. It is very comfortable while for a family coaster still being fast and thrilling with it containing several steep drops and sharp turns.

The rest of the coasters in the park are good but nothing special. This isn’t necessarily a criticism of these coasters as none of these coasters were built with the aim of them being world class. They are standard coasters that can be found at many parks around the world. It should also be noted that the inverted coaster (Vampire) is very uncomfortable.

The park has a good selection of water rides and well themed flat rides, both thrilling and child friendly. Flash Back is the stand out water ride at the park. This log flume has 3 drops including 1 which you are sent down backwards.

Walibi Belgium also has a variety of well themed dark rides including a Vekoma MadHouse and a 4D show. The 2 stand out dark rides are the Challenge of Tutankhamon and Popcorn Revenge. Popcorn Revenge is a trackless, interactive dark ride. The interactive shooting system part of the ride is not too dissimilar to Toy Story Mania at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is an incredibly good attraction and one of the best interactive dark rides we have been on. Do not miss out on this attraction when you visit.

The Challenge of Tutankhamon is a more traditional, interactive dark ride. With its Egyptian tomb theme it certainly remided us of Tomb Blaster at Chessington Worldof Advnetures. However, this ride at Walibi has a much higher level of theming.

Food at Walibi Belgium

Walibi Belgium has a variety of quick service eateries. Most serve traditional theme park food with a slight European twist. Most of these places serve panini sandwiches , pizza, burgers and chips.

The Delhi-cious quick service, located opposite Cobra, serves a variety of Indian dishes.

The parks eateries did get busy during the traditional lunch hours. However, the fast food outlets do have a lot of outdoor seating so you shouldn’t have a problem finding a table.

Events at Walibi Belgium

Walibi Belgium hosts the largest Halloween event in Belgium. In 2019, the event had 9 walkthrough haunted houses and 6 scare zones. The event traditionally runs on select nights towards the end of October. The event ran on 9 separate nights in 2019.

Hotels near Walibi Belgium

Walibi Belgium does not have any on-site hotels or other accommodation options. However, there are plenty of hotels located within 20 minutes of the park.

Personally, if you want to stay near the park, we recommend stopping in a hotel in Waterloo. Waterloo is a very friendly, historic town located only 20 minutes from Walibi Belgium.

Stuff to do nearby

There is an indoor water park located next to Walibi Belgium called Aqualibi. If you just visit Walibi Belgium then you would probably think the water park is part of the theme park as the water park is practically built within the theme park itself. However, a separate ticket is required to enter Aqualibi.

The town of Waterloo is located 20 minutes from Walibi. The famous Battle of Waterloo took place near the town. Today, you can visit the battleground and pay to climb to the top of the Lion’s Mound, a monument to the battle. There is also a visitors centre which includes a panorama, a cinema show and a gift shop located at the battlegrounds. A ticket to climb the mound and fully experience all the centre has to offer costs just under 20 euros per adult.

Brussels is located 30km from Walibi. Brussels is the capital of Belgium and definitely worth visiting if you plan on taking a trip to Walibi.

Walibi Belgium is also located within a 1hr 30 minutes from Efteling in Holland. Efteling is an incredible theme park and with its location it’s perfect to combine with a trip to Walibi Belgium. For more information on Efteling check out our review of the park.

Our Walibi Belgium Guide Top Tips

Our plan for avoiding long lines. Get there for opening. Do Loup Garou then head to back of park to do Tiki Waka and Calamity Mine. Then carry on round the park and finish by heading to Vampire which is located towards the entrance of the park. After this return to the back of the park and ride Kondaa. This ride is extremely popular with it being the parks largest and newest coaster and so therefore gets very busy in the mornings with most guests desperate to ride this coaster as soon as they enter the park.

On busy days, you will still have to queue for Kondaa whatever time of the day you want to ride although queue times are often less towards the end of the day.
