Virtual reality experience at Europa Park- Mission Rulantica: Review
During our recent trip to Europa Park we checked out the new Virtual reality experience YULLBE ‘Mission Rulantica’. YULLBE is located next to the park’s Hotel Krønasår and the water park, Rulantica.
YULLBE has been created by MackNeXT and VR Coaster. The virtual reality experience lasts 30 minutes and utilises the latest technologies to create one of the most immersive experiences we have ever taken part in. All guests are equipped with VR helmets, a backpack PC and trackers on their hands and feet. The experience is available in English, French and German. During our visit, the only VR experience available was ‘Mission Rulantica’. However, a second horror themed experience, ‘Traumatica’, opened on October 2nd.
The ‘Mission Rulantica’ adventure takes participants on a journey to Rulantica where they become recruits of the legendary ‘Adventure Club of Europe’. During the free roaming experience you encounter sea serpents, giants and the god Loki. Due to the experience lasting 30 minutes, combined with its use of high quality graphics, you really are able to immerse yourself into a brand new world. After only being in the world of Rulantica for 5 minutes, we became thoroughly focussed on the challenges of the game and truly began to forget that the world we were experiencing was only virtual.
The only previous VR experience we had ever done was the VOID’s Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire at Disney Springs. Both experiences are similar in the types of technology utilised and the types of challenges you are required to complete during the experience. However, the VOID experiences only last 15 minutes compared to the 30 minute experience you get with ‘Mission Rulantica’. We felt that the longer experience allowed for even more immersion. It allowed us to see more of the virtual world of Rulantica and take part in more complex tasks. Even after 30 minutes, we still left wishing we could spend more time in the virtual world of Rulantica.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Europa Park. We were really impressed by how the story ties into the stories created within Europa Park and, particularly, Rulantica. If you have never experienced a fully immersive VR experience, we guarantee that the technology alone will blow you away. The minute you put your headset on it feels like you have taken a step into the future. Europa Park has done a fantastic job with this brand new experience and we can’t wait to go back again.
