Top 5 Rides at Isla Magica

Located in Seville, Spain, Isla Magica opened in 1997 and was built on the former grounds of the 1992 World’s Fair. The park itself is built around a large lake and is split into six themed areas based on the discoveries of the 16th and 17th centuries. Although not a particularly huge park, its beautiful theming makes the park well worth a visit if you’re ever near.

5. Rápidos del Orinoco

With a waterpark practically inside the theme park, it’s no surprise that Isla Magica is home to a great array of water rides. This river rapid raft ride is one of our favourites at the park. Passengers ride around an ancient Mayan temple, encountering waterfalls, splashes and water jets. As Seville is known as the hottest city in Spain, this ride provides an often much needed way to cool off!

4. Capitán Balas

This pirate themed interactive dark ride takes guests on a journey through secret pirate hideouts. Riders must use their gun to score points and trigger special effects. If you aim right, you’ll trigger an array of movements, explosions and water jets, providing tons of fun things to look at.

3. El Desafío

This 68m high drop tower provides beautiful views of Isla Magica and Seville when passengers reach the top. A unique feature of this ride is that it has 6 different modes, each of which cycles throughout the day. There is Panorámico (low intensity), Sube y baja (medium intensity), Yo-yó (medium intensity), Olé (medium intensity), Doble yo-yó (high intensity) and  Pojo (high intensity). These changes allow the ride to suit a large range of guests throughout the day. Personally , I’d recommend one of the high intensity options!

2. Anaconda

Another much needed water ride, and my favourite within the park, is the log flume. Anaconda takes guests 17m high, providing a huge splash at the end of the drop!  Built amidst dense vegetation, this log flume is both fun and beautiful.

1. Jaguar

The park’s only major roller coaster is Jaguar. This Vekoma SLC opened in 1997, but was thankfully refurbished in 2011. As part of this refurbishment, the coaster received new trains, making this a remarkably comfortable SLC! If you often skip these viscous coasters, trust us and give this one a go! With five inversions, heights of 32m and a maximum speed of 85km/h, it’s one of our favourite SLC’s out there.

Isla Magica is somewhat of an obscure park and provided a pleasant surprise when we visited! Have you been to Isla Magica? Let us know in the comments what your favourite rides at Isla Magica are!
