Dreamworld has announced Lost Mine Mayhem, a near-$20 million family adventure ride set to open in late 2027 in the Gold Coast park’s Rivertown area. The announcement, made on 19 August 2026, transforms the site of the former Motocoaster into a new ATV-style expedition through an abandoned gold mine.
What was announced
Dreamworld’s release describes Lost Mine Mayhem as a completely new experience built with new ride vehicles, a new storyline and immersive theming, rather than just a repaint of the old coaster. The story sends guests on an ATV expedition beneath the valley to a forgotten treasure store, where they are recruited to stop treasure raiders from making off with what remains.
Dreamworld CEO Greg Yong said: “While it builds on the foundations of a family favourite, this will be a completely new experience with a new story, new trains and the immersive theming Dreamworld is now known for.”
Part of a wider transformation
Dreamworld frames Lost Mine Mayhem as the next step after Kenny & Belinda’s Dreamland, the Dreamworld Flyer, the Rivertown area itself, and the King Claw gyro swing — part of a transformation the park says has been backed by more than $150 million in new rides, worlds and upgrades.
What’s still unknown
Dreamworld has not given a specific opening date beyond “late 2027″.
