Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge- 5 Key Things We Know So Far
- Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set to open at Disneyland Anaheim in Summer 2019. An exact date has not yet been released. However, it is expected that the land will be open before the D23 expo which starts on August 23rd. The Star Wars land in Hollywood Studios at Disney World will open in late fall 2019. This means that this area may not be open until mid-December. Personally, I would expect the area to open around November time.
- The name of the planet this land will be set on is Batuu. Batuu is described as a remote trading outpost which is located in the galaxy’s outer rim territories. This planet has never been featured in any of the Star Wars films yet. Batuu is going to be featured in a couple of upcoming Star Wars novels; Thrawn: Alliances and Flight of the Falcon. These new novels will most probably reveal new information on Batuu. They may even hint at certain things that may be featured in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. what may The name of the village area being built as part of this new land is called Black Spire Outpost. The outpost gets its name from the large petrified spires that have become a very well-known feature of the planet. The Black Spire Outpost has also been described as a haven for those who want to stay under the radar.
- Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, in both Orlando and Anaheim, will open with two attractions. One attraction is based on putting guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. This attraction will be a dark-ride style attraction which will use the state of the art trackless ride system. This trackless ride system has already been used in Disney attractions. Examples of this are attractions such as Mystic Manor in Hong King Disneyland and the Ratatouille themed attraction built in Paris. The ride vehicles on this attraction will be First Order Fleet Transport vehicles (as shown in the picture below). The other attraction is a simulator style attraction in which guests will get the opportunity to take control of the Millennium Force. Guests will get to sit in the cockpit of the Millennium Force and take control of the famous ship as they battle against the First Order. It has also been said that your success on this ride in will be linked to how you are treated in other areas of the land.
- There will be a variety of shops and food places within Galaxy’s Edge. Disney have said that they are working in designing merchandise that will be completely exclusive to the land. They are particular focussing on producing a range of merchandise that has a hand-made feel about it. Normal Star Wars and Disney merchandise will not be sold within Galaxy’s Edge. This decision has been made to help keep guests fully immersed within the land. Disney are desperate to avoid adding anything into the land that will break the story of Batuu and the outpost. There will also be many specialty food items sold within the land, including the famous blue (Bantha) milk. Furthermore, the popular Rex from the original Star Tours will now be bought back into the parks as he will be a DJ at the cantina.
- A Star Wars land hotel will be attached to the land in Hollywood Studios. The hotel will open a few years after Galaxy’s Edge opens at Hollywood Studios. Disney have started that the hotel will be fully immersive, with guests stopping at the hotel being part of a story connected to the land and the larger Star Wars universe. During your stay at this hotel, you will have to complete several missions which will take place both in the hotel and in A Galaxy’s Edge. All guests stopping at the hotel will be given costumes upon arrival so that they can fit in with their new surroundings.Star
