Improving Disney Village at Disneyland Paris

Disney Village at Disneyland Paris currently feels very outdated and the area lacks in shopping and dining, especially compared to its American counterparts. This is not to say that there aren’t good things in Disney Village. For example, the World of Disney store is hugely popular and offers a great place to purchase all kinds of Disney souvenirs outside of the parks.

With Disney Village being so close to the theme parks and train station, not to mention the fact that all hotel guest have to walk through Disney Village to get to and from the parks, I believe that Disney are missing an opportunity to earn more money by not expanding and renovating Disney Village.

Rumours online have suggested that Disney are looking at doing exactly this, expanding Disney Village. These rumours have suggested that Disney have identified the opportunity to use the current land occupied by the marquees near McDonald’s as an expansion pad. An expansion of Disney Village is much needed, but refurbishments and renovations of the current Disney Village are also required. This area could do with being given a new theme which would be attached to a backstory created by Disney Imagineers similar to what Disney designed for Disney Springs in Orlando.

I personally feel that theming Disney Village to a place like the small French town in Beauty and the Beast would be very successful.

If Disney are to expand Disney Village, then I believe they should make sure that the new shops and restaurants they add are interesting and not just something you can visit in your local shopping mall. I think Disney should look at the success of places like Voodoo Doughnut and Toothsome’s Chocolate Emporium in Universal CityWalk when designing new concepts for an expansion of Disney Village.

Overall, I feel that Disney Village in Paris is in desperate need of some love and attention from the Disney company. Therefore, I do expect this area to get the renovation it requires in the next couple of years.
