Top 5 Rides at Chessington World of Adventures

Chessington World of Adventures is both a theme park and a zoo. The park is split into a variety of themed lands which are all loosely based on a range of world cultures. It’s attractions are family focussed, providing fun for everyone. Even as an adult, the park has a bunch of attractions I love. So, here are my five favourites!

5. Croc Drop

New for 2021, Croc Drop is a drop tower that takes guests up and plunges guests 25m down. Although not the tallest or most thrilling drop tower, the incredible giant crocodile jaws you are plunged into somewhat make up for this. Not to mention the view of the giraffes from the top!

4. Vampire

This Arrow Dynamics suspended coaster was updated in 2001, switching the original floored carriages for new floorless suspended seats manufactured by Vekoma. Vampire is Gothically themed, featuring a graveyard queue line and castle ballroom station, featuring a large pipe organ with an animatronic organist. Although suitable for 1.1m riders, this roller coaster still offers a decent amount of thrills for anyone!

3. Dragon’s Fury

Dragon’s Fury, a Maurer spinning coaster, is our favourite spinning coaster in the UK (beating out Spinball Whizzer at Alton Towers).  It’s spinning carriages provide a unique ride each time, spinning differently depending upon the riders and their seat positions. This makes it a fun and surprising ride every time!

2. Tiger Rock

This exhilarating log flume takes riders up, to drop them through the centre of a giant tiger head shaped rock. This however, is not the best part of the flume. Tiger Rock weaves under and around Chessington’s tiger enclosure, giving guests a unique log flume view. It’s truly unlike anything else the UK has to offer!

1. The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure

Having opened in 2017, this dark water ride is an update of the former BubbleWorks attraction. Although many people still miss this original version, The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure is a brilliant ride in itself. Scenes throughout the ride depict the Gruffalo story, using figures, screens and projections. The ride maintains the original Bubbleworks fountain conclusion, a fun, although slightly nerve racking for those afraid of getting soaked (don’t worry, you don’t!), conclusion.

Chessington World of Adventures is definitely our favourite family theme park in the UK, and with these attractions it’s not hard  to see why! What are your favourite rides at Chessington World of Adventures?
