Theme parks are places we visit to escape the realities of everyday life, so it’s no surprise that most of them revolve around themes of fantasy and adventure. Early theme parks drew from already established literary and cinematic genres to tell these loved stories in a new way. This idea has remained at the heart of most theme parks, which allow us to travel through time and space to both real and imagined places. However, the late 1980s saw the start of a deviation from this which would continue into the following decade.
