Steel Vengeance- The Next Great Roller Coaster

At Cedar Point the construction of Steel Vengeance is progressing at a fast rate. Many people believe that when this coaster opens it will jump straight to the top in the battle for greatest roller coaster in the world.

Set to open this summer at Cedar Point, this brand new hybrid coaster will set 10 new world records in the process. The ride is being built by utilising the track of the old wooden rollercoaster ,Mean Streak, as a start point. This track will be built upon, converted and expanded into a brand new hybrid coaster. This construction project is being completed by the Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) company.

The previous coaster, Mean Streak, opened on May 1991 as the worlds tallest roller coaster and closed on September 16, 2016.

RMC have redeveloped and converted many wooden coasters into brand new hybrid coasters with great success in the last years. One of the most notable and successful conversions was that of Colossus into Twisted Colossus at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Steel Vengeance will have a maximum height of 205 feet and a top speed of 74mph. Both these will be world records for this style of coaster. It will also have more inversions (4) than any other coaster in this category. Furthermore, it will have the tallest and steepest drop out of any hybrid coasters.

Cedar Point have also developed a novel backstory for this ride.  The story is based on three characters returning to Frontier Town determined to right the wrongs done to them in the past.

This coaster will not only individually set world records but will also help Cedar Point break three new records. When this ride opens Cedar Point will have more rides than any theme park in the world. It will also have more rollercoasters with a height greater than 200 feet and more roller coasters with a first drop of 90 degrees or greater.

Anticipation for the opening of Steel Vengeance will continue to grow in the coming weeks. The roller coaster is set to open on May 5th. I’m sure that the ride will open too much praise and be a very successful addition to Cedar Points already impressive coaster lineup.
