Disney’s Hotel New York The Art of Marvel Review
Disney’s Hotel New York The Art of Marvel, Disney’s first and highly anticipated Marvel themed hotel, opened to guests on June 21, 2021. The hotel was originally called Disney’s New York Hotel and opened in 1992 along with the rest of the Paris based resort. We stayed in the original hotel many times and couldn’t wait to experience the hotel’s new look.
The hotel has still maintained its New York theme, however the interior is now more sleek and cosmopolitan, suited to the modern style of Tony Stark rather than the past Donald Trump billionaire style. Bold and beautiful Marvel art pieces are displayed throughout the hotel including comic book covers, storyboards, sculptures, film art and much more.
The rooms in the hotel maintain the feel of a room in which Stark himself would be happy to stay in. The interior of the rooms is very sleek and clean, with colours inspired by the Iron Man suit. Marvel art pieces are also located on the walls of every room in the hotel. The rooms are extremely comfortable and now feature a coffee machine, something which was seriously missing from the rooms before the renovation. The hotel now also offers delicious room service.
The hotel has two restaurants, the Manhattan Restaurant and the Downtown Restaurant. The Manhattan Restaurant is an upscale table service restaurant which features a large and impressive Asgardian inspired chandelier. The Downtown Restaurant is a buffet restaurant with Marvel comics adorning its walls. The offerings at this buffet are themed to three separate neighbourhoods of New York: Chinatown, Little Italy and America
The hotel also has two bars. The Bleecker Street Lounge and the Skyline Bar. In our opinion, the Skyline Bar is the star of the hotel. Clever use of screens within the bar gives guests a view of New York City with Iron Man, Spiderman and the Quinjet making occasional appearances. The effect works very well and adapts depending on the time of the day. Both locations serve a variety of unique and exciting Marvel themed snacks and cocktails, alongside a more traditional offering of drinks. After a long day at the park, we loved testing out the new Marvel inspired drinks and did our very best to try out every offering during our 3 night stay. We definitely reckoned exploring the martini menu at the Skyline Bar!
Also located within the hotel is the Super Hero Station, where you can meet Spiderman and take photos in a variety of famous locations from a variety of hit Marvel movies. As adults, we absolutely loved this and can imagine kids would be even more thrilled with this themed experience!
We had a fantastic time exploring the Hotel and all the new features it now offers. The hotel itself is certainly designed to an older audience than you may expect, but after all the Marvel characters and films are themselves aimed towards an older audience than you would traditionally expect from Disney. The theming within the hotel is very minimalistic and therefore may disappoint a younger audience who might prefer a more over the top style. Overall though, we were very impressed by the hotel and can’t wait to visit again as soon as possible.
