At a recent press event held at Disney’s Hotel New York, some new information was shared by Disney regarding the future of Disneyland Paris. This post will give you an overview of the major announcements from this event.
Phantom Manor
Phantom Manor is set to re-open in the fall. The attraction has been completely refurbished and a new storyline has been added to the attraction. The sound and lighting systems in the attraction have been completely redone. All the animatronics have been refurbished and additional effects have been added to enhance the ride.
Mickey’s Philarmagic
Mickey’s Philarmagic will open in the Disneyland Park in October. This new 4D show will be located in the Discoveryland Theatre.
Disney Village
Disney have announced that Disney Village in Paris will be completely remodelled and that their plans for the remodelling of the area are 90% complete. It is expected that concept art will be released in the next few months. Disney have said that the remodelling of Disney Village will not be similar to Disney Springs. The remodelling of the area will be unique to Paris.
Disneyland Hotel
After the New York hotel has been re-themed to Marvel, Disney will then start renovating the Disneyland hotel. This renovation is expected to start in 2020. During the renovation, more Disney characters will be incorporated into the hotel.
Mark Twain Riverboat
The Mark Twain Riverboat will return. The Riverboat attraction will return to the Rivers of the Far West in 2020.
Refurbishments
Disneyland Paris cast members are aware of the fact that some of the effects on Big Thunder Mountain are currently not working. One of the major affects currently not working on the attraction is the steam effects in the caves. Disney said that this is due to a leak. They also said that cast members are currently working on these problems and they hope to have these problems fixed in the near future.
They also said that there is damage to the floor in the Ratatouille attraction. Ratatouille will be closed from August to December so that the floor can be fixed.
Marvel
Construction on the new Marvel land in the Walt Disney Studios park will begin later this year.
Speciality Marvel food and drink items will be sold in the parks this summer to celebrate the Marvel Summer of Heroes celebration. Disney also confirmed that the Infinity gauntlet cup currently on sale at the parks in Anaheim will be available in Paris this summer.
A new stage with LED screens has been constructed for the “ Guardians of the Galaxy, awesome dance off” which will take place during the Marvel Summer of Heroes event.
Tickets
Disney are working on a digital ticket system to replace the current paper ticket system. However, Magic bands will not be used in Paris.
Food
Pizza Planet will not re-open in Discoveryland.
Colonel Haithi’s will be closed for a while in the near future is it is going to be completely reimagined.
The food available at the counter service restaurants in the park is currently being completely reworked.
More thematically appropriate food will also start to appear in the parks. Seasonal food items will also be sold in the parks. Some of these seasonal items will be the same as those available in the US parks and some will be exclusive to Disneyland Paris.
Disney are also working on an online reservation system for table service restaurants.
Rendez-Vous Gourmand will return to the Studios park this year. This event, although much smaller, is a French version of Epcot’s food and wine festival. The event will run from July 27 to September 29.
Seasonal events
The Halloween cavalcade parade will return this year during Halloween season. A new float themed to Phantom Manor will be added to the parade this year.
A 90 day celebration will be held to commemorate Mickey’s 90th birthday. The celebration will start on October 1st and will finish on January 6th . Special cupcakes themed to each land in the park will be sold during this event. Other specialty food items will also be on sale during this event.
A new additional scene will be added to Mickey’s Big Band show during the Christmas season.
Merchandise
A new line of Disneyland Paris merchandise will be released later this year. This will include a new line of figurines, including a model of a StarSpeeder from Star Tours.
Rose gold ears will be sold in the parks.
New books on Phantom Manor and Pirates of the Caribbean will also be released later this year.
