In this article we will discuss what the recently released concept art shows about the plans for this newly unveiled Disneyland Paris expansion.
Tower of terror
The concept art released by Disney indicates that no changes will be made to the Tower of Terror. The ride will not become part of the Marvel land as some rumours previously suggested. Although this is an indication that the ride will keep the Twilight zone theme I still don’t feel that it guarantees the rides future. With the rumours about Disney losing the rights to the Twilight Zone it still remains possible that the ride may be reimagined.
Star Wars
The concept art showing the Star Wars area of the expansion looks very similar to the Star Wars: A Galaxy’s Edge lands being built in Orlando and Anaheim. I feel that it’s most likely that the Star Wars area in Paris will be the same as the lands being constructed in the US parks. It is possible that Paris will get a slightly smaller version of the land. Some rumours online have suggested that the Paris version will not include the Millennium Falcon attraction.
The Lake
A brand new lake will be constructed in the centre of the park. The lake will become the focal point of the park. All these new areas will then be built off this lake. I also feel that this lake area will be used for a nighttime show. The show could be similar to World of Colour at California Adventure or Illuminations at Epcot. Recently, rumours have surfaced online that Disney were planning on putting a show on the lake by the hotels. I think that it’s possible that this rumoured show is actually being designed to be shown on this new lake in the studios park.
Frozen
The concept art shows that within the new Frozen area will be Arendelle,
including the castle. It also shows that a large snowy mountain, including Elsa’s ice castle, will be constructed. It’s most likely that this mountain structure will be a brand new family rollercoaster ride. I would expect this attraction to be similar to the Seven Dwarves Mine Train at the Magic Kingdom. I feel it’s also possible that a copy of the Frozen boat ride in Epcot will be built in this area. The Frozen area in Hong Kong will include two new attractions and I think that this will be the case in Paris.
Marvel
The new Marvel land will definitely include the reimagining of Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster into an Iron Man themed attraction. Concept art also shows that a new building will be built where the car stunt show currently is. I think that a new attraction will be put in this building. It also looks like the Armageddon attraction will be replaced and the other surrounding buildings in that area be re-themed. These buildings will most likely house meet and greet areas and a new Marvel themed restaurant.
More information will be released over the next few years about the Disneyland Paris expansion. The first phase of this Disneyland Paris expansion will be open in 2021. I would also not be surprised if more changes to the park are in the plans on top of the new Star Wars, Marvel and Frozen lands.
