Theme parks, outside of their haunted houses and halloween events, don’t typically strive to be horrifying. Disney theme parks particularly aim to stray away from frightening their guests. But sometimes, despite their best efforts, some people just have an aversion to certain types of attractions. Now when it’s motion sickness that’s the complaint, that’s an easy one to understand. But not liking an attraction due to the presence of lifelike animatronics, well, that one can seem a little silly to those who don’t relate. But such aversions might not be as peculiar as you first think. This is all thanks to the uncanny valley, so what exactly is this and how does it affect animatronics and animation?
