Alton Towers Oktoberfest Review
As part of their 40th anniversary celebration, Alton Towers have launched a brand new event for this season- Oktoberfest. The Oktoberfest event started on the 11th September and will end on the 4th October.
On Tuesday 15th September, we visited the park to check out this new event. The front lawns of the park have been transformed into a Bavarian themed venue, offering a variety of tradition German food and live entertainment.
Let’s start by talking about the food options available. With Bratwursts, pretzels, German beer, a hog roast, Geladene Pommes and toasted marshmallows (you toast the marshmallows yourself on an open fire), we were not short of options. Amongst our party, we were able to sample the majority of these items and we all enjoyed what we had to eat. We particularly enjoyed the Bratwurst and the ‘Special’ Vegan Bratwurst was a brilliant option for the vegetarian within our group.
Within the Oktoberfest area there are two stages. From 2pm onwards, live music, featuring vocalists, characters, and even an oompah band called ‘German Jukebox’, occupy these stages and help create a very fun and friendly atmosphere. We really enjoyed listening to the various acts. It was a great way to take a rest from our day of riding rollercoasters, to sit in the sun listening to the upbeat entertainment.
Another bonus to the Oktoberfest event is that the park itself is staying open until later than normal. This allowed us to get some late night rides on our favourite coasters Wicker Man and Nemesis.
Overall, we had a fantastic time at the Oktoberfest event. The park has managed to create a joyous atmosphere which, during these difficult times, was a wonderful break to be in such a feel good environment. Furthermore, with many of the traditional Christmas markets in the UK now cancelled for 2020, this event may provide you with one of the few opportunities this year to get your fill of German Beer and Bratwursts. If you get the chance then we definitely recommend that you check out Oktoberfest at Alton Towers. We’re sure that it will provide you with a fun, family friendly day out.
It is also important to note that the Oktoberfest venue is perfectly setup to ensure that social distancing is maintained at all times and the tables within the venues are being regularly disinfected.
