Toverland has confirmed that Maximus’ Blitz Bahn, its bobsleigh ride of 12 years, closed for good on 17 May 2026 to make way for a new attraction: a “swinging bobsled” developed with Dutch manufacturer ETF Ride Systems. No name or storyline has been given yet, and no exact opening date — only that it’s due in Toverland’s winter season.
What was announced
In its press release, Toverland says the new ride keeps what made Maximus’ Blitz Bahn popular — riders controlling their own speed — but changes almost everything else. Where the old ride ran vehicles along curved bobsleigh chutes, the replacement runs on a conventional roller coaster track with banked corners that tilt inward on bends.
New vehicles, same footprint
The ride reuses the existing layout and canopy, so it can run in any weather, but gets newly designed two-person bobsled vehicles in a steampunk style, with riders seated one behind the other. At points along the track the cars swing outward depending on speed. The attraction becomes part of Wunderwald, Toverland’s themed area built around the inventions of the eccentric Maximus Muller.
What’s still unknown
Toverland hasn’t named the ride, confirmed a storyline, or given an exact opening date — only that it’s targeted for the park’s winter season. Further detail is expected closer to opening.
