- Go on the indoor attractions – This is the most obvious thing to do in a thunder storm at any theme park. Due to lightning all outdoor attractions will close during a storm. However, indoor attractions will remain open. It must be noted that as some attractions will be closed those that remain open may have greater lines. However, this is often offset by the fact that many guests leave the parks when a storm hits.
- Watch a show – Watching a show during a thunderstorm is perfect. It gives you a place to sit indoors and stay dry while the storm passes (hopefully). It is advised to turn up to shows a bit earlier than normal during a storm. This is because shows will be very popular at this time due to the undercover seating available in the arena/theatre.
- Shopping- Thunderstorms give you the perfect opportunity to visit the gift shops and find souvenirs for yourself or for friends and family. By visiting shops during a storm, you can get the shopping out the way. This means you can spend the remainder of the day experiencing all the park has to offer. If staying on resort at parks like Disney or Universal you can have your purchases sent back to your room at no extra cost. This is very useful as it prevents you from having to carry extra bags around for the rest of the day.
- Food- Going for something to eat during a storm is a very popular way to pass the time. Going for something to eat allows you to restore your energy levels. It also gives you a comfortable place to stay and wait for the storm to pass. However, many restaurants (both quick service and table service) will become very busy during a storm as many guests will have the same idea.
- Arcade- Many theme parks have large indoor arcades in them. The fun games are a great way to pass the time and stay out the rain. Theme park arcades are often filled with a large variety of the most modern arcade games. This makes theme park arcades a great place to go when a thunderstorm arrives.
